OUR MISSION…

… is to create gardens of healing that welcome all who enter to connect with the goodness of plants. Through the truthfulness expressed in their forms, colors, scents and energies, plants have the ability to enliven, nourish and heal. With sensitively designed landscapes, biodynamic practice, and a workshop where they are carefully transformed into remedies, we strengthen the healing light that may grow between people and plants.

IMAGINE

vibrant cultivated gardens filled with plants of all types, inviting those who enter to join in their creation and simple enjoyment.

Manyfold medicinal plants grow in this landscape whose energy and design speak directly to the heart.

Among trees and along a stream lie a greenhouse and workshop building spacious enough to welcome groups of helpers and visitors to experience and learn of the gifts of healing plants.

This imagination is already becoming a reality as Mettabee Farm and Arts has offered Heart Spring Gardens a home. There is yet much to be done to fully develop this potential!

AT THE HEART OF THIS WORK…

…… lies the intention to open the world of plants to those seeking counsel from nature. The increasing abstraction of our time calls for balance through connection to Life.

There is no doubt that a garden with a multitude of carefully tended plants - each a silent counselor- can offer space for this connection to occur. Simply being near plants allows a magical transfer of peace and contentment to permeate one’s soul…

like a spring welling up in the heart…

We will seek and build relationships with local and regional programs serving children, students, those in recovery, veterans, and all who may benefit from this experience.

These gardens are about connecting and it is our hope that they will add their gifts and potentials to the already socially vibrant place that is Mettabee Farm and Arts.

Of equal importance will be oppor tunities for learning to be developed through lectures, workshops, internships, guest speakers, cultural events, and the hosting of courses in collaboration with other organizations.

THE GARDENS

Beginning in the Fall of 2025, a half-acre fenced plot and a shaded area along a small stream have been made ready for planting, giving us a good foundation for the 2026 season. It will be a condensed but solid beginning, with an eye toward the longer-term establishment of the gardens, programs and products.

IMAGINE by 2027 two main areas: One of an open character, focused on the production of larger quantities of medicinal crops. The second, a formally designed garden where medicinal perennials, shrubs and trees, accompanied by intentionally chosen features and sensitive landscaping, will create welcoming and quiet destinations.

Several hundred plant species will be cultivated, both for their therapeutic proper ties and for the power of their presence. Many of these plants have been grown and selected for this work for over 30 years, with seeds continually being har vested and re-grown.

Biodynamic practices will guide the flow and attention to all aspects of our work, from growing to harvesting and processing, bringing rhythm to space and time.

MANY YEARS of experience cultivating medicinal plants biodynamically have taught us the best methods to grow them, optimizing every step from seed to harvest. This is where high-quality plant medicine begins.

Imagine a simple yet functional building that is spacious enough to offer education and training. It includes a space for the careful drying and storage of plants and flowers, a processing area, and a laboratory.

With these facilities our goal is to produce fresh and dried plants, hydrosols, and a wide range of specialized extracts for medicine makers including the Uriel Pharmacy.

We will also develop our own line of unique medicinal products to help ensure the financial sustainability of Heart Spring.
